Roosevelt Brewing Company

Drink Local | Support Freedom

Roosevelt Brewing Company is eastern New Mexico's premier craft brewery and public house. We specialize in hand-crafted ales and wood-fired cuisine, and we are determined to deliver a mouth-watering dining experience.

Taste the Difference

Roosevelt Brewing Company and Public House is a family-owned BrewPub located on the Southeast corner of the historic Portales Square. The over 100 year old building is located just feet away from one of Portales’ once numerous saloons and we are proud to continue in the trade of making quality adult beverages that contributed to the founding of the city of Portales.

The owner and brewer utilizes his degree in Chemical Engineering to consistently produce quality beer using his personal recipes from the molecular level to your clear and clean awaiting glass.

Our burgers showcase hand-formed, never-frozen burger patties, flavored with our secret in-house seasoning and gently rested between french brioche buns.

Our beer-infused dough is prepared in-house, consisting of a two-day process utilizing a 300 year old french baking technique which transforms our organic quality flour and in-house brewed beer, into your favorite pizzas and hoagies.

Our slow-roasted pork, meats, and vegetable toppings are baked or smoked daily in the same unique wood-fired oven that daily cooks your pizzas to perfection.

Our hand-cut, gluten-free fries are diced and blanched daily and cooked fresh when you order.  Our sauces, salsa, dressings, queso, and appetizers are all made from scratch daily and make use of secret family recipes.  Artisan cupcakes are created daily with unique weekly flavors infused with RBC’s in-house beers inspired by classic combinations.

We have always been, and continue to be, proud and committed to bringing our community an experience unlike any other.  We would be honored by your patronage and invite you to come in and taste the fresh, handmade, in-house, from-scratch, beer-infused difference for yourselves.

A Building's Secrets and Charms

Part of a historic building's charm lies within its secrets. Here is the story of one such secret that was uncovered while clearing out the basement here at Roosevelt Brewing Company:

First let's begin with the story of the basement itself. It was dug out sometime after the building had already been built. As a result from an earlier flood, the existing wood panels had to be taken down and moved out in preparation for remodeling and construction for the brewery. As we began basement demolition and removed all of the detritus, a few bottles from the 1930s were unearthed, but then the real gem was discovered:  A giant old movie poster for the movie "Honolulu," starring Elanor Powell (circa 1939).  It had been folded up and stashed behind the wall, nearly destroyed by age and the moisture of the dank environment it was in for 70 some years. Its pieces were assembled carefully, like a puzzle, until we were able to  stand back and look upon it in awe.  Big plans remain for this relic, which has been appropriated by a local artist.

Welcome to the official Roosevelt Brewing Company blog! We are currently in the very busy process of opening a micro-brewery and public house in Portales, NM. We are located on old Main Street in a 93 year old build that was originally built as a JCPENNEY’s. Next week we will obtain our finalized building plans, a realization of three years of designing and planning. We will be documenting our progress as we build toward our passion: sharing the love of quality craft beer! We love beer and are devoted not only to creating great brews, but also to creating great experiences and encouraging our fellow man through beer! Cheers!
