Welcome to the official Roosevelt Brewing Company blog! We are currently in the very busy process of opening a micro-brewery and public house in Portales, NM. We are located on old Main Street in a 93 year old build that was originally built as a JCPENNEY’s. Next week we will obtain our finalized building plans, a realization of three years of designing and planning. We will be documenting our progress as we build toward our passion: sharing the love of quality craft beer! We love beer and are devoted not only to creating great brews, but also to creating great experiences and encouraging our fellow man through beer!
Cheers!

I did research at Graham abstract ofc and with help of long time friend “Marie” found out the following. The first owner of the building at 201 S. main was the Pecos Railway Const. Company. Don’t know if the built the building or not. On 8-17-1903 Mattie O. Chandler purchase the building. 11-24-13 bldg purchased by Joseph E. Young. 3-20-14 purchased by T.G.Melinar who was Jay Thompson’s step father. 3-7-21 sold to H H Buchannan and leased to J C Penny Co. on feb 14, 1929. When both Mr and Mrs Buchannan died to bldg sold by estate to D. Wall in 1981. In 1983 the building sold to Mr. Fred Borden. 1987 records show that bldg sold to Mr. Eugene Shade. 1988 building sold to Mr. David Stone and on Mar 2, 2011 purchased by J.D. Cole. At some point in the history of the building it was rented or leased by Slaton Brothers, but found no record. If anyone can add to the history of this old building pls do so. It is now in process of being upgraded, updated and equipment being installed by the Degroot Family Builders to house a Micro-Brewery and resturant, which is scheduled to open in fall of 2012.
